Future Secured for South Bank with Comprehensive 30-Year Master Plan

The Future South Bank Master Plan, outlining a 30-year vision for one of Queensland’s most beloved areas, has been officially completed, detailing a path towards a greener, more accessible Brisbane. Read: Bullets Lodge Plans for South Bank Performance Precinct Released on the 11th of May 2024, the Future South Bank Master Plan proposes sweeping changes to revitalise the precinct. It emphasises enhanced connectivity and more active transportation options, aiming to integrate seamlessly with Brisbane's urban fabric.  Key intervention points identified in the plan include the Southern Gateway, Northern Gateway, and Grey Street, all set to transform with a focus on pedestrian priorities and green transport solutions. This collaborative approach ensures the plan not only reflects the government's vision but also aligns with the community's desires and needs. This initiative seeks to enhance the performance and connectivity of Brisbane’s key areas, ensuring they are more walkable and better linked.  The program identifies 11 major inner-city precincts, including South Bank, the CBD, and the Cultural Centre, which will benefit from improved planning coordination and infrastructure investments. Photo Credit: SouthBankCorporation Preparations for 2032 Olympics Looking ahead to the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the master plan and the Connected Precincts Program are designed to facilitate easy access between key venues such as the Gabba and Suncorp Stadium. These efforts aim to leave a lasting legacy that leverages the infrastructure developed for the Games to enhance city life well beyond 2032. Susan Forrester AM, Chair of the South Bank Corporation, expressed excitement about the master plan's finalisation. She emphasised that the plan sets the stage for South Bank's long-term evolution, ensuring it remains a premier destination for both visitors and locals.
