Ms Seidl's pregnancy was fraught with challenges, starting with heavy bleeding while on holiday at 22 weeks, leading to her emergency evacuation and a diagnosis of subchorionic hematoma. Despite treatment, Luka arrived 15 weeks early, weighing a mere 728 grams.

The tiny infant's struggles didn't end there. At seven weeks old, Luka underwent urgent surgery at Mater Mothers' Hospital in South Brisbane to correct a twisted bowel, adding to her concerns about her underdeveloped lungs and premature eye condition.
"Luka received an immense amount of care at Mater Mothers'," Ms. Seidl said, recalling the joy of Luka's first proper bath after 106 days. "We're forever grateful our little girl is here with us today."

Mater Foundation Chief Executive, Andrew Thomas, has urged Queenslanders to support families facing similar challenges through the charity's 2024 Tax Appeal.
"After birth, most families spend three days in the hospital, not three months," Mr. Thomas noted, highlighting the unique anxieties faced by parents of premature and critically ill infants.
The Mater Hospital expert care has made Luka a healthy 3.3 kilograms baby, a testament to the care provided where up to 79 babies may be found in the Neonatal Critical Care Unit at any given time.
